Description

"Like the Echézeaux, this is so heavily reduced that there is little to be discerned from the nose save for the elevated ripeness level. The mouth feel provides an interesting contrast as this is a huge, rich and powerful wine yet it's quite round and supple as the structure is completely buffered by all of the mid-palate sap, which also confers a velvety charm onto the magnificently long finish. This is one of those wines that despite being built to age will permit pleasurable examination along the way."

Burghound 92-5 points

"Slightly subdued red fruit aromas followed by lush, powerful red and black fruit on palate. Well textured and balanced already for a young Corton, but with the stuffing and dry extract to last for decades."

Cellartracker 2012 (no score given).

"Maison Ambroise is a name you can trust in Burgundy. Their wines, from the lowliest appellation to the prestigious Grand Cru, such as this one, reflect the vintage and place beautifully. This gorgeous Corton Rognet is well structured with a solid core of dark minerality and luxurious, almost sweet, red and black fruit flavors. A healthy dose of earthy and smokey notes shows its savory side. A serious wine, it has the requisite charm expected of red Burgundy. It’s wonderfully expressive now, but its beautiful structure and impeccable balance suggests it’s built for the long haul."
