Tasting notes

5/12/2015 - MHUDES LIKES THIS WINE: 95 Points
Wow! What a wine. Very nice nose. Dark ruby red in color. Red cherry, some blueberry and a touch of leather. I seemed to be tasting an ever changing array of different items. Great finish. Can go for a number of years, but difficult to imagine it being much better.

5/10/2015 - JEFF LEVE WROTE: 95 Points
What a super wine. That is, if you like a nose packed with kirsch, black cherry, incense, thyme, garrigue, smoke and a tinge of vanilla. The rich, fat textures, pure fruit and sweet, kirsch in the finish really make this sing. At 15 years of age, this is still going strong. But there really is no reason to wait for further development.

The 2000 Chateauneuf du Pape (a blend of 75% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre, 10% Cinsault, and 5% Syrah) was aged in foudre for 15-18 months, and totally de-stemmed. It offers a deep ruby/purple colour in addition to aromas of black currants, cherries, dried Provencal herbs, and liquorice. Layered, sweet, accessible, and plump, this succulent effort was produced from the estate's younger vines (25-30 years). It should drink well for 10-15 years."
