Ch. La Tour Figeac has only 14 hectares (34½ acres) of vineyards; 60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc which yields 45 hectolitres per hectare, about the same as 1st growth Medoc properties.
Fermented is in both stainless steel and oak vats, extraction is through both punching down the cap (Burgundy style) and pumping over (traditional Bordeaux style). The wine is then stored in oak casks, up to 70% new, for 12-18 months.
David Peppercorn MW (and Bordeaux expert) described this wine as 'powerful yet stylish, rich with real length of flavour.'
Robert Parker describes the estate as 'enormously appealing.... hedonistic as well as an intellectual turn on'.
