A Cru Bourgeois that punches way above its lowly status. Robert Parker describes it as 'uncompromising wines of extremely high quality.... easily the equal of many of the classified first growths'. Indeed, he describes the 2001 as 'tasting like a first growth and must be tasted to be believed!'(Wine Advocate)
The vineyard has four classic Bordeaux varietals; Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, each bringing its own distinct subtleties. Whilst this vintage is in the shadow of the stellar 2000, for many estates this is a fabulous vintage. At release it was projected to mature from 2020 and will continue to develop after that!
Hugh Johnson says in his pocket wine book ....... 'Splendid widely followed estate.... classed growth quality ...... Conservative big boned wines to lay down for years!'
