These two 2001 Clos de L'Hermitage bottles have the new domaine label design,introduced for the first time for the 2001 vintage.RP rates this wine as unbelievable stuff and among the most profound bottle of Cotes-du-Rhones that he has ever tasted:-

"From a vineyard owned by the Formula One Race Driver Jean Alesi,the spectacular 2001 Clos de L'Hermitage is a blend of equal parts Syrah,Grenache,and Mourvedre,aged in small casks,25% of which are new.This is unbelievable stuff.Tasted blind,I would have thought this was a top class Chateauneuf du Pape.An inky/purple color is accompanied by an extraordinary perfume of scorched earth,blackberries,blueberries,and melted licorice.With tremendous texture,full-body,fabulous sweet,glycerin-imbued fruit flavors,and a lusty,heady finish.It ranks among the most profound Cotes-du-Rhones I have ever tasted. Amazing!".
