Year in and year out, there is rarely a better wine for the money than this dark garnet Gloria. The 2003 reveals a terrific nose of forest floor, cedar wood, Christmas fruitcake, spice box, black currants and cherries. The tannins are well-integrated, sweet and round. Medium-bodied, juicy, fresh and lively, this fully mature 2003 can be enjoyed over the next several years.

Tasted at Bordeaux Index’s “10-Year On” tasting in London. The Gloria ‘03 has plenty of cedar/pine notes on the composed nose with blackberry, pencil lead and undergrowth emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a gamey entry. There tannins feel ripe and there is a pleasant graphite seam that runs through this Gloria that has a little more weight and depth on the marine-inspired finish. I would be happy owning a few cases of this great Saint Julien. Tasted March 2013.
