Wine Advocate #163
Feb 2006 Robert M. Parker, Jr. 92+ Drink: 2008 - 2018
The 2003 Vieux Telegraphe Chateauneuf du Pape has turned out well. Deep ruby with some purple nuances, this wine is medium to full-bodied and reveals notes of licorice, pepper, Asian spices, black cherry, raspberry, and currant, as well as a relatively big, sweet palate impression with moderate tannin in the finish. It is accessible, but will benefit from 2-3 years of aging. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2018.

Wine Advocate #156
Dec 2004 Robert M. Parker, Jr. (90-92) Drink: 2008 - 2020
Approximately 60% of the production made it into the assemblage of the 2003 Vieux Telegraphe Chateauneuf du Pape. Made from the estate’s oldest vines, it is a dense ruby-hued effort with purple nuances as well as a tight but promising nose of licorice, salty sea breezes, black cherries, raspberries, plums, and a hint of animal. Medium to full-bodied, with austere tannin as well as gorgeous fruit, it requires 3-5 years of cellaring before the tannin is resolved. Not a blockbuster, it possesses extraordinary elegance and finesse from one of the appellation’s most precocious, warmest terroirs. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2020.
