Description

In the November 2012 issue of Decanter,57 top clarets from the magnificent 2009 vintage were tasted.Chateau Dauzac 2009 was adjudged to be one of the six "outstanding" wines and was awarded 95+ Points. It was second only to Mouton-Rothschild (96 Points) and matched Chateaux Margaux and Grand-Puy-Lacoste in quality. Also,in Robert Parker's tasting notes (see below),he confirms that this is a stunning bottle of claret.

Steven Spurrier and Stephen Brook were two of the judges at the Decanter tasting and their tasting notes were as follows:-

"Fine, fragrant nose, all elegance and femininity, plus underlying cassis fruit.Lots of fruit, elegance of flavour with florality as well.Lovely harmony,a very attractive wine with a good future".
(18.5/20 Points).

Steven Spurrier. (Decanter.November 2012).

"Dense cassis and liquorice nose;distinctly oaky, but not to excess.Very rich yet lifted and pure fruit with real intensity and flair thanks to excellent acidity.Irresistible energy and a long finish, with mocha and black fruits".
(19/20 Points).

Stephen Brook. (Decanter. November.2012).

"Has Dauzac ever made a wine this good? Deep ruby/purple,with notes of graphite and black currants followed by some spicy oak and licorice in a creamy, plump succulent texture that almost reminds me of Right Bank wine, this 2009 is full-throttle,dense,and super-concentrated.It is an amazing Dauzac.Drink it over the next 25 years. Drink: 2012-2037".
(92 Points).

Robert Parker. (The Wine Advocate. #199. March 2012).

"Tasted at the Margaux UGC.A blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon and 36% Merlot, this has a lively, ripe, joyful bouquet with fine definition and purity: blackberries, wild strawberry,a touch of cedar and sous-bois.Very fine definition. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, very good balance...this is one of the Dauzac's that has been lighting up the Margaux tastings in recent years.Good structure on the sous-bois and tobacco-tinged finish that lingers enticingly.Excellent.Tasted,March 2010".
(90-92 Points).

Neal Martin. (eRobertParker.com April 2010).
