Description

Chateau Lamothe Bergeron is known as one of the leading Cru Bourgeois in the Medoc. It has been producing wine since 1796 and the vines are grown on some of the best gravels in the Gironde estuary.Hubert de Bouard is the current consultant winemaker.
Perfect weather conditions in 2009 resulted in one of the finest Lamothe Bergerons ever produced...60% Merlot,40% Cabernet Sauvignon.

This wine won a Gold Medal at the Concours General Agricole,Paris in 2012.

"What's so striking about 2009 - and I haven't really seen this kind of excitement since 1982 - is the quality of the cru bourgeois and the petit vins and the generic Bordeaux that are available. In short,2009 is the greatest vintage I have tasted in Bordeaux since 1982,of which it is a modern-day version, but greatly improved.
Just like in 1990 and 1982,the low acidity, the very ripe fruit, the high glycerin levels from the elevated alcohols, and the stunning concentration and fruit from low yields will give most of these wines incredible appeal in their youth".

Robert Parker. (The Wine Advocate. #188. April 2010).

"Lovely currants and berries on the nose and palate of this young wine.Medium-bodied,with fine tannins and a fresh clean finish".
(88-91 Points).

The Wine Spectator.

"Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois 2009 tasting in London, the Lamothe Bergeron has a well-defined bouquet with blackberry, wild hedgerow, dried orange peel, and a touch of cedar.Good definition and lift. The palate is medium-bodied with very good natural acidity, very refined with a healthy touch of acidity on the finish that lends freshness and vitality.Very fine".
(91 Points).

Neal Martin.

"Dark ruby-red.Enticing nose hints at sweet blackberry, cedar and flinty minerals.Balanced and fine-grained,with flavors of ripe plum and raspberry syrup and cassis complicated by a flinty nuance.Finishes with satisfying length and a touch of warmth".
(87-89 Points).

Stephen Tanzer. (The International Wine Cellar. June 2010).
