Description

"What is so striking about 2009 - and I haven't seen this kind of excitement since 1982 - is the quality of the cru bourgeois and the petits vins and the generic Bordeaux that are available. In short,2009 is the greatest vintage I have tasted in Bordeaux since 1982,of which it is a modern day version, but greatly improved".

Robert Parker. (The Wine Advocate. #188. April 2010).

As Robert Parker says above, the outstanding 2009 vintage was a superb year for the petits vins in Bordeaux.
La Rose Pauillac covers a vineyard area of 60 hectares, with a clay and gravel soil, planted with the classic Pauillac grape varietals - 60% Cabernet Sauvignon,30% Merlot,5% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot.
The best plots are selected for the La Rose Pauillac wine, which is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels,of which 30% are new every year.
I cannot find a professional taster's note on the 2009 La Rose Pauillac. However, there are two tasting notes (both brief) on CellarTracker, both awarding the wine 91 Points:-

"A pretty serious wine, relatively classic, not showing much at the moment.Better in ten years".
(91 Points).

CellarTracker. (25/10/2012).

Tasting notes on La Rose Pauillac taken from the Fine Terroirs Selections site:-

"A beautiful dark red color, with earthy tones and heavy legs on the glass.Light scents of black cherry and plum along with blackberry and licorice.A dry red, with strong tannins, and black cherry, plum, tobacco, and earth flavors. It shows all the characteristics of the more expensive Pauillac".

I have checked WineSearcher worldwide for La Rose Pauillac retail prices.Younger vintages sell for approx.£20-£25 Ex Tax and older vintages (25 years+) for approx.£70+ Ex Tax.
