Description

The 2013 vintage of this wine was awarded first place in a tasting (Decanter July 2016) of 120 Rhone village appellation wines.
2010 was a magnificent and even better vintage in the Rhone Valley and the Cave de Tain L'Hermitage is recognised by the wine cognoscenti as being probably the best co-operative in France. It consistently produces high quality wine, whether it be Hermitage,Crozes-Hermitage,St.Joseph or Cornas.
The following are tasting notes on the 2010 Crozes-Hermitage Cave de Tain in a recent Decanter Magazine tasting:-

"Bright cherry nose, has intensity, but these aromas are atypical.Rich, plump, juicy, rounded, plush and forward, but kicked into life by good acidity.Accessible now but has the structure and grip to keep going and evolve further.Mocha on the finish".
(90 Points).

Stephen Brook. (Decanter Rhone Tasting.March 2014).

"Cooked plum front air,with a thyme,hay,spring flower scenting - a gentle start.The palate is well made up,all in harmony,the fruit rolling along throughout.Good drinkability,and easy,effortless length.Soft finale,which is also pretty complete".
(90 Points).

John Livingstone-Learmonth. (Decanter Rhone Tasting. March 2014).

The 2010 Crozes-Hermitage Cave de Tain was awarded a Gold Medal at the Concours General Agricole,Paris in 2012.

Jancis Robinson recently opened the new cellars at Cave de Tain:-

"Caves de Tain has always been managed with a true passion for the production of quality wines and extensive consumer insight. It is one of the best co-operative wineries in France, but also one of the best producers of northern Cotes du Rhone wines".

Jancis Robinson. MW. (Inaugeration of new cellars at Cave de Tain in 2014).

"My search for France's greatest co-operative continues.Might it be Northern Rhone's Cave de Tain?
While the lazy (members) drift away because they don't like the rigorous standards which the Cave de Tain imposes on its members. It's precisely that which should ensure that this outstanding co-operative continues to be a northern Rhone landmark for generations to come".

Andrew Jefford. (Decanter Magazine Article. July 2016).
