This is more deeply pitched than the Jeunes Rois with a ripe, cool and airy nose of dark berry fruit liqueur that is liberally laced with plenty of pungent Gevrey style earth notes that can also be found on the rich, dense and powerful flavors that possess a seductive texture thanks to the huge amount of dry extract that also imparts an opulent mouth feel. There is good structure here but it's almost invisible at present, again thanks to the abundance of extract. This is an outstanding wine for its level and one that will be approachable young but should age very well too. Outstanding Top Value.

I would characterize this domaine's performance in 2011 as having outperformed the general quality of the vintage; moreover it is one of the few domaines that seriously outperformed at the lower end of the appellation hierarchy... I have pointed this out before but it's worth mentioning again: Geantet makes some of the best villages level wines around and 2011 is no exception so if top value is what you're after, you should make yourself familiar with these offerings.
