The Reserve Pinot Noir is from the higher vineyards, at 500-600 metres of altitude and facing south-south west, so cooler. Fermented with a proportion of the stalks in open top concrete fermenters, as in Burgundy, and then into Allier oak, 60% new
Ruby garnet, lighter around the edges. The aromas and flavours are classic Pinot. The hedgerow berries, cherries, fresh ground pepper with whiffs of sweet spice and violets on the nose. I like the backbone of the wine, the round soft tannins, the plushness and the length of aftertaste.
