Description

From the famous pioneers Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Mouton Cadet was created in 1930 and it is today one of the leading Bordeaux names. Mouton Cadet was the original second wine (not the entry wine it is today).

We discovered three bottles of the 1966 when delving into the far depths of my father's cellar, one has been enjoyed and the others will be sold. This has held up remarkably well and outshines some of the first wines from lesser years.

A lovely ruby colour, it's dry, medium body, some autumn fruit, a hint of acid and tannin too keep it alive on the palate. This is either a throwback to how wine used to be made, or an example of what happens to quality red after 50 years - I've not had enough experience to know which! Either way it's not something you get to taste very often!
