Description

A 14 year old Crianza which is still drinking very well indeed based on a bottle I had last year. Rich dark cherry flavours with refreshing acidity, a good food wine.

Several positive notes on Cellartracker, and although they are a few years old, I think they're still representative of the wine today.

Jay Miller reviewed the wine for the Wine Advocate in 2007 and scored it 88 points:
"The 2001 Lealtanza Crianza, from 35-year-old vines with the fruit aged 12 months in French oak casks, is a traditionally styled Rioja. It is medium ruby with an ample bouquet of toast, earth, cherry and currant accompanied by good quantities of fruit, light tannin, and elegant flavors with hints of cedar in the background. This stylish Rioja should drink well for 4-6 years."
