Amazingly, my bottle of PC was still hanging in there. Classic Pauillac. Good fruit still there, not much aromatically. Considering that people described the cork (while still in the bottle) as smelling like "moldy drywall", and "a construction site", this was a remarkable bottle. Drink up. Had this next to a '75 Malescot and '78 Lascombes... It was probably the wine of the tasting, had the most pedigree.

Within the range of possibilities for a 44 year old bottle, this was not a great bottle but indeed a very very okay bottle. Especially for one whose saturated cork disappeared into the bottle at the very first poke from the Ah-So--whole, but still not much of a seal there. Garnet red in color. Classic Pontet-Canet nose and flavors suitable for age of dried cherries and cigar ash, along with some very real tannins. Nice!
