Description

The wine estate of Château Angludet belongs to the Sichel family, wine merchants in Bordeaux for six generations.
Situated in the Médoc on gravel deposits from the Garonne, the estate produces excellent wines under the Margaux appellation, which are often put on a par with a Grands Crus Classés in terms of quality.

Château Angludet is a fine, elegant wine. At each vintage, we seek to achieve the ideal balance between the fruit, the structure, the tannin and the freshness afforded by acidity to guarantee out standing ageing potential. Angludet's great aromatic finesse becomes apparent from the 3rd year after harvest and continues to develop for decades.
Beautiful, deep red with black tints. The nose is ripe and elegant, with fruit predominating.
With the 2008 vintage, Château d'Angludet changed its name to Château Angludet.

Blending of Château Angludet begins in the February after the harvest. The winesfrom the best plots are then selected by Benjamin Sichel for their complementary qualities. Thus, only 70% of the volume of the harvest is selected for Château Angludet.

This is an unqualified sleeper of the vintage, a beautifully opulent, rich, dense, ruby/purple-colored wine with sweet cassis fruit intermixed with some licorice and resiny notes. Quite full-bodied, pure, with good, sweet fruit covering moderate levels of tannin, this is a beauty and an undeniable bargain for a wine of this quality. In fact, I’m not sure that it’s not even better than my rating.

Robert Parker – The Wine Advocate

(As with many Magnums the drinking window is extended so still in perfect fettle, quite a few more reviews on the web, this wine is perfect for your next dinner party / Sunday lunch or keep for Xmas)
