Description
I have for sale one bottle of Chateau Branaire Ducru 1990 in very good condition as can be seen from the photos. You will note I am also selling a bottle of 1989 (which finishes in two days) so a chance to acquire a mini vertical of two of the best vintages in the last 30 years.

1990s Bordeaux wines tasting (at my home): dark transparent red-brown
excellent dark fruits nose with leather and tobacco notes
light-medium bode, soft integrated tannins, lean structured, good balance, medium harmony, medium complexity, tobacco, leather, sous-bois, truffles, pleasant finish

Brick colored and a fine scent, very few minutes after opening a medium body on the palate with good structure and length. It´s all there, what an old Medoc needs: Fruit (plum), cedar box, leather etc.
Getting more body but more diffuse as well one hour after opening. Won´t improve. Bottle variation most likely. So drink now. Excellent dram.
7/5/2014 - PROFBYRON LIKES THIS WINE: 91 Points
Very mature (even for bottle bought and consumed in Bordeaux from reputable merchant) with lovely aged character. Not by any means a blockbuster. Its attractiveness is largely because it has aged, and developed lovely character, rather than being a wine of intense fruit originally.
I know 1990 wasn't quite as ripe as 1989 but I thought it was not far off, but, as I said, this isn't a blockbuster. I suspect that many 2000 Bordeaux may similarly surprise some people. If you expect a 'vintage of the decade' (or Century as usually hyped) to be Californian in ripeness then don't look to the left bank of Bordeaux in 1990 or 2000. Thankfully. The world needs more wines like this. Wines that have delicacy as well as flavour.
13%. Cork.

Bouquet: Evolving melange of mushroom, leather, moldy damp earth, dried red berry and later some restrained smokiness.
Flavor: Mushroom, leather, tobacco, semi-dried red berries and cassis with a touch of smokiness. Flavors sustained through a medium-long finish.
Comment: Tannins were understated but still present, firm acidity and good berry fruit. Fine balance and intriguing, inviting aroma. A beautifully crafted wine that is drinking well now and I'd guess will hold for another 5 years.
