Description

One bottle of this outstanding wine, chateau bottled and with a Berry Bros slip label. Kept for many years.

Robert Parker gave it 96 points and described this wine as "a blockbuster Cheval Blanc and probably the best Cheval Blanc made during the 1960s and 1970's" suggesting that its anticipated maturity would extend until 2025. Also highly rated by Michael Broadbent. Another bottle from the same consignment was truly excellent.

Tasting note: A perfect Cheval Blanc that is beyond words. Gorgeous, complex flavours with evolved, bottle aged flavours of black truffle, forest floor and leather. Supple, gorgeous with very long finish. Silky tannins with all the elements in balance. This bottle was not recorked. Tasted in: Singapore. Maturity: Drink. (13-Mar-2014) Jeannie Cho Lee

Tasting note: At first, the wine was marked with VA, but that faded after a short time in the decanter and glass. Spice, earth and a decadent array of truffles. Rich, silky, opulent fruit poured over… (full tasting notes on the WCI website). (06-Aug-2008) Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider

Tasting note: A completely stunning wine, so rich and concentrated that we thought it might be Petrus. Thick, sweet, velvety, meaty - almost medicinal. Gloriously hedonistic. Pure pleasure. (26-Apr-2014) Jancis Robinson
