Château Clarke is a wine property of Bordeaux of 54 hectares (130 acres) based in the Listrac-Médoc AOC and classified as Cru Bourgeois.
Owner Baron Edmond de Rothschild purchased the property around 1978 and it has become one of the most remarkable developments in the Medoc. The Baron has undertaken a long term scheme of modernisation and investment in quality in vineyard management.
Prior to the 1982 vintage, the wines were lean and austere, and marked by new wood.
The '82 however, gives an idea of the potential of this cru as the investment / property attributes mature.
For 1982 - There is a strong assertive flavour, typical of Listrac but there is plenty of fruit and richness, and the new oak is completely absorbed.
I drank a bottle of this in 2011 over the course of an evening. Stunning colour, amazing level of fruit.
