1954 Cos d'estournel is virtually unobtainable now, especially in a Chateau-bottling. Put it into Wine Searcher and you will get precisely nothing. The French sites list the last auction sale as 2002, and a price of 628 euros per bottle!
Wine Spectator in May 1990 gave this 81 points.
1954 is no great vintage, but for a 60th birthday early next year, it may make a happy memento.
Otherwise, it is a collector's item, perhaps of interest as a comparison in a flight.
The label is intact and clearly legible, although a little water has fallen on it at one point. The capsule has very light oxidation on top (see photo), but the cork appears excellent and the colour of the wine is good for a bottle of this age. The level is low-mid-shoulder.
