This is unusual in that it is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aromatic, complex and mineral with some evolution on the nose. The palate is mellow, spicy and a bit earthy with nice tannic grip. A very stylish mature wine. 94/100

Château Haut-Bailly (France) Pessac-Leognan 1986
Like almost all the 1986's I've tried, a rather impenetrable wine at present, with the elegantly wrought oak, pure fruit and finesse of Haut-Bailly all hinted at beneath quite a tough, sinewy, veneer of tannins and tight acids, with aroma and flavour both quite subdued. This is a full-textured and clearly structured wine. Very good indeed.
