Description

A bottle of La Mission Haut Brion; Label and capsule in very good condition; level into neck; wine clear and brick red to a bright light through the bottle; negociant bottled, possibly by Nony, Bordeaux.

Tasting note from the chateau website: The wine is full, harmonious, complex. In a word a great wine.Even at its age, the wine is balanced and tastes younger. It is still developing. The fineness and the richness of this wine are remarkable. A marvellous wine today but can still be aged for a few more years.

Michael Broadbent: 5 stars and will continue (2000)

Parker: "I have been told my a number of people who have followed the 1953 vintage from its youth that it drank exceptionally well in the late fifties. Apparently, it has lost none of its hedonistic, supple, explosive fruit. It offers a delicious smoky, berry fragrance, a silky, creamy texture, and a long, heady finish. The low acidity provides vibrance, and the tannins have melted away. Should you be fortunate enough to have the beauty cellared, drink it over the next several years." RP (93 RP)
