'Tasted at dinner in Bordeaux. A fragrant nose of cigar-box and cedar that has a beguiling focus. The palate is fully mature and is just on the wane. Becoming a little tarty with high acidity. Notes of faint red berried fruits and tobacco. Very elegant but starting to lose its fruit. Fine length though. Beautiful wine but drink up. Tasted March 2000. 93-94pts'

Parker describes the wine as 'good, but far from profound' - a reminder that there are no great old wines, only great old bottles.
The level of this bottle is excellent for its age (high shoulder) and the label is good too.
