Description

GRAND VIN DE CHATEAU LATOUR 1972

Chateau Latour Grand Vin is one of the most respected of First Growths of Bordeaux and the most consistent in terms of style. Président Frédéric Engerer produces 3 wines: the Grand Vin always comes from the vines surrounding the chateau.

The estate is located at the southern edge of Pauillac, bordering the St Julien vineyards of Chateau Léoville Las Cases, and covering 78 hectares. As one would expect in Pauillac, Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the plantings, accounting for 80% of the vineyard, with Merlot (18%) and Cabernet Franc/Petit Verdot comprising the remaining 2%.

Wines from Chateau Latour are consistently praised for their excellent quality and their ability to age well. The estate holds the prestigious 1855 Classification alongside other esteemed chateaux, including Chateau Lafite Rothschild and Chateau Haut-Brion.

This bottle is truly exceptional. Label and foil are in great condition (label has a small tear to the bottom right, apart from that it is immaculate) Slight dusting to the bottle consistent with age (reluctant to take this off as it as some character and historic feel)
