Residing on a dried-out bed of the river Cachapoa, Château Los Boldos was originally established in 1850 by a Basque family, then passed hands in 1990 (after several generations) to the Massenez family of Alsace. In 2008 the vineyard and its some 210 hectares was bought out by Sogrape, who recognised its superior location between the Andes Mountain corridor and the Chachapoal river – excellent climactic conditions for wine production. As with much of Chile, all of the vines here remain ungrafted and many are nearly 60 years old. Dominique Massenez personally oversees all aspects of the running of the estate.
Blend of carbernet sauvignon / merlot, the first and only grand cru from chile wine with intense and deep color with flavors of cassis, dry plums, mocha and spices, A wine of elegance and finesse definately to drink now.
