Description

"Also a favourite, for some time our everyday claret, is Château La Tour de By" Michael Broadbent.

This great property is now run by two of the late Marc Pagès's grandsons, Frédéric Leclerc (ex Ecole Polytechnique) and Benjamin Richer de Forges. They are very capable.
A further 12 hectares of superb land were purchased last year to add to the 55 hectares. The average age of the vines is well over 40 years.
The blend comprises 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. It is fermented in traditional wooden vats in a temperature-controlled chai, with a 4-week cuvaison. The wine is aged for 16 months in new to 3-year-old barriques. Both the 2001 and 2004 vintages are drinking beautifully. Decanter held the 2005 as the best of all Médocs. Robert Parker thought 2006 was the best ever while 2007 and 2008 will be lovely drinking wines.
