Touch of violets, a little leafy with time in the glass, and bags of lovely perfume. Very dry, dry fine tannins. Some vanilla on the nose and palate though the oak is all French (70% new). There’s a lightness and elegance on the palate but also a fine grainy texture giving depth and character. Subtle and fine and aromatically complex across the mid palate and into the long finish. (84% cabernet sauvignon, 13% merlot and 3% cabernet franc) Deep ruby. Explosively perfumed, complex bouquet runs the red and dark fruit gamut, with vibrant raspberry, cherry, blackberry and cassis scents deepened by cured tobacco, mint, vanilla and incense. Silky in texture, with serious heft to dark berry and cherry flavors. Mocha, vanilla, lavender pastille and licorice qualities add complexity and depth. Impressively balanced, pure and palate-staining, finishing with a deep blackcurrant quality, supple tannins and outstanding length. Serious and deserving patience.
