Description

Negrette is a varietal originally planted just to the side of Toulouse by settlers from Cyprus during the Crusades. It is one of the oldest varietals in the world and it has light to medium bodied style and soaring perfume of spice and violets.

Jean-Luc et Frédéric Ribes have made a very fine Fronton composed of 51% negrette - the variety unique to Fronton - 25% syrah, and 24% cabernet sauvignon. This 'Cuvée Réservée' is from parcels of their vineyard planted on gravel subsoils. Each variety is vinfied separately in the traditional manner during about 4 weeks in temperature controlled fermentation tanks. After 18 months the wines are assembled and pass another four months before bottling.
Discover the top wine from this domaion from the truly excellent 2005 vintage with notes of black fruits and spices. Concentrated and with mature tannins and a long aftertaste.

Guide Hachette:Cuvée Réservée 2005
De beaux arômes de réglisse, violette, fumé. La bouche est dense avec des tanins construits, une finale épicée.

Well worth discovering as it remains frustratingly hard to find any good Fronton wines in Britain except in a very few specialist shops.
