Description

From the "great vintage" (Michael Broadbent) of 1978. Not presently for sale worldwide. The last time I can find this for sale was at L'Assemblage 4 years ago when it was about £500 including taxes. Vintages back to the 1920's are still available. I've set a low reserve.

The Domaine no longer exists. Leroy purcased the entire Charles Noëllat Domaine in 1988.

Just 2 tasting notes from Cellartracker:

"Popped and poured, drunk over the following 5 hours. Initially metallic and thin in the mouth. But with extended air, it blossomed into a powerful, peaty, smoky, gamy nose with plenty of sous bois, and lots of dark fruits underneath. Masculine - tastes more like an old richebourg than an old rsv. A little too much alcohol on the finish, which i dont recall from the last bottle, but that is picking nits. Gorgeous."

93 points

"Decanted for 1.5 hrs before drinking. Dusty ruby with some borwning at the rim. Absolutely gorgeous, mature pinot flavors of sous bois, dark fruit and allspice. long, long finish. Amazing wine."
