Description

Second chance at this fabulous bottle due to a time waster. This is obviously a bottle of DRC, with a correct embossed and logo'd capsule, but the label is missing so whilst I believe it to be an RSV from '74, I can't be sure. Offered in good faith.

This is likely correct because the bottle was unearthed in cellar laying next to what appears to be an identical item, the second bottle having an intact label and sporting the same £9 price tag (oh to be able to buy DRC for 9 quid these days!!). You can see the other bottle in pic 5 above.

Please accept the possibility upon pulling the cork of discovering that this is an alternative offering / vintage from DRC (nice surprise if it turns out to be 1978 Romanee Conti!)

This bottle has an absolutely astonishing fill level for the age, and other than the dearly departed label is in cracking condition.

The bottle was found in a collection that belonged to a gentleman who is sadly now frequenting the great vineyard in the sky, and contained incredible treasures from the 70s and very early 80s.

The wines were stored in an underground wine cellar beneath a grand house. The temperature was evidently excellent as the wines are in healthy condition with high fill levels, though labels have deteriorated - and in some instances are absent altogether – and there are deposits on some of the capsules.

It is not known how long the wines sat in the cellar, but price tags are still stuck to some, and the prices would indicate purchase at or around the time of production. I reckon it’s a reasonable assumption that they’ve laid in the same cellar their entire life.
