One bottle of this well regarded wine, in decent condition.
Of the 17 hectares producing the red wine, 70% are planted with grenache, 15% with syrah, 10% with mourvèdre and the rest with a mixture of the rest of the 13 grape varieties allowed by the appellation.At harvest time the grapes are hand-picked at optimal ripeness and then sorted in the vineyards. The bunches are fermented without de-stemming in traditional concrete vats for 2 to 3 weeks. The wine is then matured in an array of large and small oak barrels with very little racking or sulphur. After 2 years the Cuvée Réservée is bottled unfiltered, whilst the barrels selected for the Cuvée Laurence, (the bottle on sale), patiently await their time at the back of the cellar for another two years.
In his "Wines of the Rhone Valley" Robert Parker notes that "the Cuvee Laurence is noticeably more complex and evolved" than the Cuvee Reservee and gave the Reservee 93 points.
