"...(this and the Latricières are from the oldest vines of the Domaine and this wine comes from a superbly situated 1 ha parcel of Clos de Vougeot high on the hill, next to Alfred Haegelen’s parcel adjoining the wall). Moderate reduction makes the nose tricky to read but the rich, full-bodied, intense and extremely powerful flavors possess palate saturating dry extract on the austere and forceful finish. This doesn’t have the sleek muscularity and tension of the Bonnes Mares but if anything, there is arguably even better material here crafted in an old school style. Flat out superb and for fans of old school burgs, this is one to consider carefully."

"Phillipe Drouihin's vines are one of the very best parts of this large vineyard, right at the top in the middle, this probably explains the staggering consistency of this wine. Habitually one of the vintage's top Clos de Vougeot, this 2005 is every bit up there with the best. Dense, powerful and silky sweet, packed with velvety fruity flavours of plums and cherries."
