I have for sale 6 bottles of Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe La Crau 2009 which I purchased as part of a lot of 36 bottles at a Christies auction. For all I enjoy Chateauneuf, even I will struggle to drink all of those and so I have decided to sell some. These have just been delivered from Octavian Vaults.
This averages a very good 91.9 points on Cellartracker.
Wine Spectator: 94 points
This is crammed with fruit, spice and structure, as braised fig, plum skin, cassis and anise notes wrestle with roasted apple wood, melted red licorice and tar for now. The embedded grip should carry the finish until this assimilates fully. Best from 2014 through 2024. 5,000 cases imported.
Robert Parker: 92 points
This 135-acre estate (all in the famed La Crau) has produced a 2009 Vieux Telegraphe Chateauneuf du Pape composed of 65% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre and the rest other authorized varietals (from vines that average 60 years of age). The wine is aged 18 months in foudres and concrete tanks. This classic offering had just been bottled before my visit, so it was probably tighter than it will be in 6-12 months. Deep ruby/purple-colored with notes of garrigue, seaweed, licorice, plums, black cherries and raspberries, it typically reveals a Mediterranean sea breeze-like character that is difficult to articulate. The sweetness of the tannin, full-bodied mouthfeel, and evolved style remind me somewhat of the 1983, which is still drinking beautifully. The 2009 can be consumed now or cellared for two decades.

We drank this at F.I.G. in Charleston. It was excellent, revealing various tastes and aromas as it aired. Wish I had more.

Mature, drink up. Gave a quick 30 min decant. Black cherries dominate the palate, not getting much from the nose. Very blah, sorry to say.

Fantastic. Very short decant, maybe 30 minutes. Consumed over an hour. Definitely improves with time in the glass. It think this will evolve to new levels of enjoyment over time, but it's a real joy to sample at this stage of development. Look forward to the next bottle in 2017+.

Sampled a glass from a restaurant via Coravin; absolutely delicious. The nose has ripe damson plum, red raspberry, and currant, there is spice and garrigue, violet, and a hint of leather. The palate is rich and full with nice structure from moderate tannin and overall a beautiful sense of harmony and balance. Really good and only getting better.
