firm and silky red, with spices, berries and cinnamon. Medium bodied with firm tannins and a medium finish. Very good ducru. Best deom 2003 thru 2007. 17500 cases made.

Crafted with great skill, the 1999 Ducru is full-fleshed, supple, expressive and graceful, packed with the typical blueberry and blackberry fruits of the year, with liquorice stick and mineral flavours etched into the finish.

As with many 99's this has proven to be a surprisingly good effort by Ducru-Beaucaillou. Soft and supple with a great nose of dark berries, cigar box and mint. On the palate it is full bodied and well rounded. Deep and inky with plenty of fruit. The tannins are soft and resolving well but there remains enough grip to show this wine could happily weather another 10 years. Drinking now. Lovely stuff.
