Eileen Hardy was awarded an O.B.E. in 1977 for her outstanding contribution to the wine industry. As a tribute to this great lady, each vintage our winecellars select the best Shiraz to carry the "Eileen Hardy" label. This wine is a blend of Shiraz from Padthaway, McLaren Vale and Clare Valley. These premium grapes were basket pressed using our 75 year old presses at Hardys Tintara winery. This gentle pressing action reduces excessive extraction of tannin while gaining maximum colour and flavour. The wine was matured for 14 months in a combination of new and one year old French and American oak barrels. The blackberry fruit with hints of pepper and mint are enhanced by toasting, cedary oak characters. Mouthfilling richness, freshness and length of flavour are the hallmarks of this great wine.
