Description

Emina is a large but very quality conscious producer that makes a range of Ribera del Duero reds and Rueda whites.

They make some great premium cuvees from some of their old vine plots, but even their more regular cuvees, such as this one, are really well made and tasty, with good acidity and nice savoury characteristics that make them great food wines.

I haven't found any professional reviews for this wine, but I note that the 2005 & 2006 vintages garnered 90 and 89 points respectively from the Wine Advocate.

There's one recent Cellatracker note for this vintage:

In the bouquet mainly red, but also some black forest fruits and a light dose of oak. On the palate a lot more acidity than you would expect of a wine from this region. There still are some red fruits. If there is any tannin left in this light to medium bodied wine; it is not sticky anymore, so I think the wine should be drunk now. The wine is ok, but not as lush or complex I hoped for.

A bit mean I would say, based on my own tasting this year. I think it's a good medium bodied wine, savoury and juicy, great with food, and good for at least 2 or 3 more years.
