Description
Grapes from the very finest and oldest plots within the Don Maximiano Estate vineyards produce a wine of intense power and concentration that will develop for many years. Probably Chile’s first super-premium wine; the 1995 vintage won Chile’s first ever Gold medal at the International Wine Challenge in 1997.
Inky ruby. Expansive, assertive scents of blackberry, cherry-cola, smoky herbs and licorice. Stains the palate with dark berry, cherry and bitter chocolate flavors, with zesty minerality adding precision. Tannins build with air and add grip to the impressively long, chewy finish. With aeration more sweetness and depth arrive, with no loss of vivacity. Very impressive and balanced for cellaring. 93/100 Stephen Tanzer

A pretty red colour with ruby-red highlights. Expressive on the nose, with a broad range of aromas that denote tremendous complexity, featuring red fruit such as cherry, cassis, and raspberry, subtler notes of red currant, tobacco, and hazelnuts, and some balsamic tones. Voluptuous on the palate, this wine features extremely fine, firm, and sweet tannins along with bitter chocolate, cherries, and sweet spice flavours. Its outstanding acidity gives the wine a youthful, refreshing feeling, which presages an excellent cellaring potential.
Blend: 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Carmenere, 5% Syrah, 3% Petit Verdot
