The 2013 Fleurie Grille-Midi comes from the warmest part of the parcels from vines over 60 years of age on shallow soils. It has a complex bouquet with broody dark cherry, red plum and undergrowth scents that burst forth with just a few swirls of the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit with a saline tincture. This is very well poised with a dash of white pepper sprinkled over the tannic finish. More masculine than Jean-Paul Brun’s Fleurie, this will give a decade of pleasure.
