Description

Older bottles of Chateau Musar are usually an intriguing mouthful of wine. The unusual blend of Cabernet Sauvignon,Cinsault,Carignan, and Grenache grapes needs time to soften and with age this wine shows its true glory.
Some people (like Robert Parker) suggest that older vintages taste similar to Chateauneuf du Pape.Others, like myself, compare it to fine old Burgundy.
There is no doubt that age in bottle adds to the suppleness, complexity and finesse of Chateau Musar.

Topterroir.

The last tasting note on Chateau Musar 1982 on CellarTracker:-

"Garnet rim for sure, but not as "old" looking as I'd expected.Secondary flavors to the fore as you'd expect - leather, tar, smoky bacon, but still with a hint of underlying fruit-cake flavors - prunes, candied fruit. Also although tannins are fully integrated, there is still a rich mouth feel and enough acidity to cope with a lamb steak"
(88 Points).
