Description

Chateau Musar is noted for its keeping qualities. The wine improves in quality with extra years in bottle with the unusual blend of grape varietals.
Serge Hochar believes that "the Cabernet Sauvignon provides the bones and the skeleton of the wine, the Carignan the flesh and the muscle and the Cinsault the silky smooth finesse".

"Chateau Musar rouge; thicker colour, much more mature than the 1998.Very forthcoming nose, mature,no longer a virgin.Delectably sweet on the palate.Open.Much longer than the 1998 (which I love).Transformed,interesting.It's telling a story (which we don't get with the younger ones).Glorious length.High brett (which I love).Mouth explosion. This wine satisfies the brain, heart and soul.It is like being hit with a huge velvet boxing glove."It grabs you and tells you something about the future" was the comment of one of the other tasters. As it evolved in the glass,it developed a burlap bag style of old cheese, perhaps Cheddar, and developed dairy cow shed aromas.Great wine".

Bartholomew Broadbent. (Wine writer and son of Michael Broadbent).

A recent tasting note on this wine by the professional taster Richard Jennings:-

"Bricked medium dark red violet color;mature,roasted berry,VA,black cherry,lavender,pastille nose;mature,black cherry,ripe berry,black raspberry,lavender pastille,coriander palate;long finish".
(93+ Points).
