1999 Giuseppe Rinaldi "Brunate-Le Coste" Barolo

97 points Wine Spectator

A beautiful perfume of flowers, mushroom and forest underbrush marks this maturing Barolo, which is tight and linear, with fine tension and mineral elements, followed by notes of chai spices and sandalwood on the long finish. Very vibrant. Drink now through 2027.

Rinaldi's 1999 Barolo Brunate-Le Coste is fabulous. Firm, powerful tannins give the 1999 much of its spine, power and pure drive. Lavender, black cherries, plums, dark spice and iron emerge from the glass, but only with considerable reluctance. The 1999 Brunate-Le Coste is a powerhouse, not to mention a terrific example of the year. With air, the 1999 can be enjoyed today, but its best drinking probably lies ahead. (AG) (8/2014)
