Description

This is the wine that famously came sixth in a tasting involving some of the top Bordeaux wines.
The three medal positions went to: 2005 Château Lafite-Rothschild (£975 a bottle), 2005 Château Mouton-Rothschild (£675) and 2005 Château Angélus (£295). Just off the podium, in fourth, is 2006 Sacred Hill Helmsman.

Bright, strong, ripe blackberry and blackcurrant flavours with a strong overlay of classy French oak. An elegant, powerful wine that shows great promise. Certainly a step up on the previous vintage. A stylish Bordeaux blend that justifies its flagship status. 92/100 Bob Campbell Master of Wine

2/3/2012 - JOHNSH WROTE:90 Points
Deep ruby in colour, with oak and blackfruits on the nose. Lots of oak on the medium-full bodied palate too, with smooth tannins and texture, cassis, plums and tar. This has the fruit to continue to improve.
Cellartracker

This wine is not available anywhere else in the UK.

£80 a bottle in Australia.

Sacred Hill is recognised as one of New Zealand's leading, multi award winning wineries. Focusing on the production of premium 'handcrafted' varietal wines, the company's estate vineyards are located in New Zealand's leading grape growing regions of Marlborough, Hawke's Bay and Central Otago.
