Description

Round and soft tannins; lovely crisp fruit; pleasantly sweet and full, soft fruit, lovely flavour 4 star - Michael Broadbent

The vibrant and brilliantly pure 1988 Hermitage exhibits an opaque dark ruby colour and a huge fragrance of spring flowers, cassis, minerals and spices. It is full bodied and extremely rich, with plenty of tannin and structure as well as 30 years of aging potential _ 94 points- Robert Parker

Dark, purple-black colour. Major potential on the bouquet, great width, great warmth. Superb surge of intense fruit on start of the palate, cracking Syrah wild fruit, firm and sustained. Plenty of tannins circulating - quite strong ones - but the whole is well knit. Excellent balance, long and lingering finish. A harder hitter than the 1989 and very true to type. Great keeping possibilities - this will drink fabulously between fifteen and thirty years (b. Jan 92). John Livingstone-Learmonth

Wine Scores
The Wine Advocate (Robert Parker) - 95 Points
Stephen Tanzer - 95 Points
Janis Robinson 18.5/20 Points
