Lopez de Heredia produces very traditional old-style Riojas, with a long history going right back to the construction of the large bodega in 1877. The wines are medium-bodied with complex aromatics and high natural acidity levels that help ensure their ageworthiness.
This 1982 Tondonia, from an outstanding Rioja vintage, is now a vivid but pale orange-red in colour, with a palate of sweet dried red fruits and tobacco, and intriguing high-toned aromas of coffee, spices, citrus and smoke. Lovely old school Rioja!
