Description

Two bottles of mature Volnay from Maison Thorin - established in 1843 and absorbed into the larger Boisset wine empire in 1961.

According to the English version of the dual-nationality back label:
"Fine and powerful, combining ancestry and fullness, grace and delicacy, associated with a profusion of aromas. Keeps 5 to 20 years, according to the vintage. Serve between 16 and 18 C."

Well, 1988 is an ageworthy 5 star red Burgundy vintage according to Broadbent, and we all know the French like to drink their wine too young, so there may well still be some drinking pleasure to discover within these venerable and obviously well-stored old bottles.
