Familia Martínez Bujanda is one of the finest bodegas in all Rioja. Originally established in 1884, a state of the art winery was completed a century later and, since then, the family has been winning worldwide acclaim for their outstanding wines and innovation. They only produce Gran Reservas in top vintages - 2001 was 5-Star - taking the best grapes, here Tempranillo with a little Mazuelo, fermenting them carefully, then ageing the wine for over two years in American oak.This deliciously mature red is showing complex secondary flavours of liquorice and leather alongside its bright cherry fruit. A special occasion wine to enjoy with game birds such as pheasant or partridge, a casserole or simple roast meats such as lamb or beef.
