Near neighbour of Lafite, Mouton and Cos. This a 'super-second' par excellence of St Estephe fame, then in the ownership of the Charmolue family, now Martin and Olivier Bouygues. Accolades abound with one critic allocating 95/100 with drinking dates running to 2023. However, no one should consider bidding for this bottle without seeing Jane Anson's recent Decanter magazine article on the wine/vintage. She has a drink-by date of up to 2030 giving it a life of almost fifty years; how much more can Montrose aficionados expect, for goodness sake!
