The other night in Pall Mall, the assembled ooh’d And ahh’d at a bottle of Richebourg 1964 that I had brought up from my cellar. It was my last one. It is unlikely but not impossible for lightening to strike twice and so it was with some trepidation that the following week I opened a bottle of this Nuits St Georges. I can honestly say that this wine is even better, it is i think the Greatest red burgundy I have ever drunk. The saying goes that there is no such thing as great wine, only great bottles. Well, the level on the three bottles I’m offering are the same as the one I drank. ‘59 was an astonishing year. I’ve given it a healthy price tag, but I will Be most delighted to drink them if nobody takes them off my hands. Wines like this in such great condition are simply too rare. The bottles came from an Oxford country house cellar and I bought them at the auction of the contents.
