Description

Recently removed from a private cellar, where these wines have been stored since purchase, they are now resting in our temperature and humidity ocontrolled wine storage unit. They are part of a larger consignment to be sold shortly and as such we decided to open the lowest level bottle in the consignment to verify condition.

"Still plenty of red pigment here, with significant bricking towards the rim as would be expected. Classic Burgundy nose of farmyard and ripe red fruit. Initially quite closed but with an hour and a half in decanter starting to show really developed aromas. Palate beautifully poised, with some earthiness, again that farmyard hint, ripe strawberry fruit, balanced acidity and soft tannins. A finish that is spicy and earthy, with a little smokiness. Not powerful, but very elegant indeed."

Obviously, with a wine of this age, I cannot guarantee that every bottle will be the same as the above note, but given these two are in better condition on the outside, I have no reason to beleive otherwise, in fact they may be better.

Needless to say, this particular wine is not available anywhere else in the world and there seem to be very few Nuits St Georges from 1967 on the market at all.

As can be seen from the photos, one bottle has a very tatty label, and no vintage collar, and the other has a drity label and a dirty vintage collar. The capsules on both bottles are intact but scuffed and marked. Levels I would mark as perhaps slightly above mid shoulder, but this is tricky to be exact about with Burgundy bottles.

It is my opinion that the overall condition of these bottles is the same, hence they are sold as 2 lots in the same auction.

Please see my other auctions for an array of interesting older wines from this collection. Multiple purchases will be consolidated for delivery.

Please note that if paying by Paypal, the charges made to us will be added to the invoice (usually around £3.50).
